The King Cobra Baffler Utility Metal comes in four models ranging from 18 to 26 degrees. All four models can be ordered in either steel or graphite. They also have four women’s models ranging from 23 to 32 degrees. The women’s is only available in graphite. $129.00 in steel and $149 in graphite.
Cobra Baffler (steel $129.00) (graphite $149.00) Introduction Cobra who invented the original Baffler utility club almost 30 years ago returns to its roots with the introduction of the new King Cobra Baffler Utility Metals. Back in those days the metals to make a utility club and get the performance available with current technology wasn’t available. As with other recent offerings this club is designed to replace your long irons but in my opinion certain of the models really should be used to replace one or more of your fairway woods. The Baffler uses the same 17-4 stainless steel body as most utility – hybrid golf club manufacturers but incorporates the newer 465 Maraging Stainless Steel face insert not available elsewhere. To cut the technical stuff to “Jack Talk” the new face insert gives you a larger sweet spot to make mistakes with!! At the very attractive price point this club will sell very well with all levels of golfers.Can I Get A Steel Shaft? Yes you can. It is the Nippon NS 950 Pro Steel Shaft. This is a lightweight shaft and is designed to get the ball easily into the air. The steel shaft comes in three flexes, Lite for senior golfers, Regular for most golfers and Stiff for faster swing speeds. Price in steel is $129.00Can I Get A Graphite Shaft? You bet you can and Cobra has put the Cobra/Aldila NV-HL (HL means high launch) graphite lightweight shaft in the Cobra Baffler. This is another of these newer shafts specifically designed to take advantage of the technical advantages of utility – hybrid golf club heads. When combining the dynamics of the clubhead and the high launch shaft you get a very playable club. At 65 grams it is a little too light for some people but the club head and shaft have been matched to produce optimum performance for the greatest number of golfers. It comes in four models from 18 to 26 degrees. Unlike some manufacturers the Cobra Baffler has all models can be ordered with steel shafts or left handed. The models are 2/R with 18 degrees of loft, the 3/R with 20 degrees of loft, the 4/R with 23 degrees of loft and finally the 5/R with 26 degrees of loft. The model numbers (for example 2/R) indicate the club you would replace in your bag. This is where I disagree with most utility – hybrid companies. How many people have a two iron in their bag to replace? So if you want the complete set toss your four or five wood and replace it with the 2/R. You can use it in more ways. For longer greenside shots I sometimes use my lower lofted utility club to putt and chip.
